on behalf of the user [with an appropriate reference to your
tracking system].  This will help us help you help your
(our) user.

I rather we separate the crash issue from enhancement
issue.  That is, we should be able to fix this problem without
changing the command line interface and it's documented behavior.

I've extracted a couple of fixes from your patch and applied them.
More may be needed....
