I believe this problem has been resolved in the -devel codes.
If using -devel (not for production, I hope), just grab the
latest codes from the repo.

Feedback on the configure changes is appreciated.

However, if using 1.x, I suggest you review the FAQ and use the
appropriate mailing lists for such questions (ie: openldap-software).
