(ITS#7845) slapd debug in the background

Hello,

I have been running slapd with -d 1 and the logfile directive in my slapd.conf
file. The issue is that I also want slapd to fork into the background once the
process starts. The bash script that starts up this process needs to exit before
the deployment is considered a success.

Is there a way to get debugging information in my logs without using syslog and
without having slapd running the foreground?

Thanks
