Debian sarge, with libc 2.3.2, OpenLDAP 2.2.23, built with gcc 3.3 works.

Debian sarge, with libc 2.3.2, OpenLDAP 2.3.13, built with gcc 4.0.3, does 
*not* work.  GCC specific issue?
