I cannot confirm this, it's working fine for me.  Can you provide
further details about how OpenLDAP was configured?

Also, the "kill: (30623) - No such process" seems to indicate that
either slapd died by itself (and the related log, or core in case of
SIGSEGV, could help); or, something weird happened (like there was
another slapd running?).
