This is the first password change test035 is attempting, which goes from
server 2 (back-meta) to server 1 (back-{bdb,hdb,ldbm}; do they all fail?).
 Could you post the (relevant parts of) testrun/test.out and
testrun/slapd.{1,2}.log ?  Can you reproduce it from inside a debugger ?

I've seen this behavior only once with back-ldbm, but I had not enough
info to trace down the problem, and I couldn't reproduce it with all
debugging on or from inside a debugger.

It might also be related to ITS#3672; in this case I need you to wait
until tonight, when I'll commit the fixes I've prepared.
