This is a problem with BDB 4.2 and is discussed in the mailing lists.

A patch for BDB 4.2 (and corresponding patch for back-bdb) are provided

The back-bdb patch is not needed if you use BDB 4.3, which is supported 
as of OpenLDAP 2.2.19.
