Okay, I'll give Heimdal and SASL debugging rebuilds (I'm using 0.6.1 
Heimdal and 2.1.18 SASL, which are the latest AFAIK).  One thing I just 
thought of, is that I only see this issue when I have two syncRepl clients 
attached to the master -- With one syncRepl client, there is no problem.

Does that suggest a non-mutexed, not very thread safe call is being made?
