Re: [ldapext] VLV: a particular target entry

I suggest that instead of looking at "by DN" as a new feature,
that you look at it as a new approach to provide selection of
a particular target entry, a feature necessary to provide
scrolling of the view.

The current mechanism is broken! For example, the user who
asks for "scroll DOWN" and gets entries ABOVE returned.
Likewise for "scroll UP" and appears of entries BELOW returned.

The document needs to provide a mechanism which continues
to work when content is unstable.

We should not standardize a mechanism which only works when
the content is stable.

I say no, it is too late: the current VLV specification has been extensively reviewed and has been held up on a minor issue for about 2 years now. Let's publish it as a Proposed Standard and move on. Extensions to VLV or a VLV2 can of course be pursued by anyone with time and interest.
