Display name attribute

A question about the display name attribute in INET org person oc.
Are there any rules governing the values of this attribute, e.g. should
all siblings have a unique display name or not. For example, if I put
display name "Mark Smith" in 1000 org person entries, would your
software complain, or would it simply list out all the entries as if they
had the same DN.
