LDIF and extended LDIF

Hi Gordon and others

As part of a appendix to a Danish law on telephone number exchanges among
service providers I made a proposal for how an extended LDIF. This extended
LDIF is considerable more flexible and have a much broader usage than the
basic LDIF. Besides being used within Denmark, it is the likely candidate
for a similar telephone number exchange within UK.

The current draft (<draft-andersen-isss-ws-dir-ldifext-00.txt>) is expired
but seems to still be there. I have an updated version that has not been put
on the server yet. I am still in doubt how to progress the document through
official channels. My preference is to progress it through IETF. It has so
far attracted very little attention although vendors (e.g. Siemens and
Nortel) have expressed interest in the extended LDIF as a general
synchronisation tool, where basic LDIF is too inflexible.

I could progress the document through formal standardisation channels.
However, I do feel it should be an RFC progressed through an IETF working
group.

Gordon (and others), what do you think?
