To me, the sound seems more like like a lawyer or politician quoting me out
of context. There was an "although" right after the phrase you quoted, which
indicated that XML repairs the worst features of ASN.1, while retaining the
ability to convey more complex data than "header: value" style. XML looks
like machine readable HTLM.
