Re: Status of LDIF and Changelog?
Hi-
The main value of LDIF (apart from the creation of test data for
interoperability testing -:) looks to be to enable existing records of
various kinds - phone lists, address books, etc. - to be converted to
directory records easily and in a standard way. As such, its value will
remain even when directory replication standards appear. XML might be
better in theory - at least for non-ASCII information - but LDIF is
adequate and is there now AND is widely supported. So I think that it would
be appropriate for LDIF to be on the standards track.
