Tim,
what your reply seems to highlight is that we need additional rules
for the placing of the "Referral" attribute and action when it's placed
in an entry under various circumstances.

I think we have identified 3:
- Referral is the only thing the server knows
- The server knows the whole entry, but no subentries
- The server knows the whole entry and subentries
In all cases, the server's behaviour needs to be described, and needs
to be different in each case, varying with entry search, single-level
search, whole-subtree search and modify operation.

The whole topic of indexing servers is a fourth (and fifth and....) case,
which I believe needs additional work.

Does this topic really belong in LDUP?
