SASL/StartTLS extensions (Was: RFC 2255bis)
It's my opinion that:
a) as LDAP URLs are used in conjunction with update operations,
support for mandatory-to-implement authentication mechanisms
[RFC2829] must be adequately addressed,
b) adding mandatory-to-implementation authentication support to
LDAP URLs is not the only way this issue can be addressed, and
c) inclusion of any new features to any LDAP "core" technical
specification would minimally require that particular specification
to be reissued at Proposed Standard.
Question: Should the LDAP URL technical specification be updated
to support mandatory-to-implement authentication mechanisms?
Question: Should the LDAP URL technical specification be updated
to support transport level security?
