The man page for slapadd's -w option needs to be updated to note that it's
generally only safe to use with a cold slapcat.

The note for the -w argument does not apply to back-mdb, since back-mdb
uses an isolated snapshot of the database when performing the slapcat.
Thus the out of order "hot change" issue does not apply (which is the
problem with using -w with back-bdb/hdb).

Comment 5 Quanah Gibson-Mount 2020-03-23 20:39:23 UTC
Given that this is only an issue for back-bdb/hdb and they are deprecated for 2.4 and removed for 2.5, no reason to fix.
