Submission from: (NULL) (62.45.9.24)

Adding the netscape roaming access does not work with openldap 2.0 gamma but it
works with openldap 1.2.11

It seems the schema is not imported properly as the errors seem to indicate that
the nsLIProfile class is not working well.

No further info is available at tthis moment.

Hugo.

OpenLDAP 2.x schema directives (attributeType and objectClass) are
significantly different than their 1.x counterparts to handle
LDAPv3 requirements. 1.x schema files will no load under 2.x and
must be updated.

Is there a conversion tool I overlooked?

Is there some documentation that will help me convert it manualy? Like
descriptions of both formats

Included a translation I did from 1.x to 2.x format. The original 1.x
lines are marked with #ORG#

Please comment on it if you feel I made any mistakes. I won't be able to
test today. Perhaps on monday afternoon. I used chapter 8 from the new
OpenLDAP Administrators Guide.

Once the file is correct and verified I would like to donate it to the
OpenLDAP project. I may also write some documentation regarding it's use
with netscape if you think it would be helpfull.

Regards,
Hugo.

PS: Cc to Kartik Subbarao as he was the author of the LinuxWorld article
that got me started.

PS/2: I prefer to write documentation in DocBook SGML (v3.1) but I guess
that shouldn't be a problem with the OpenLDAP crew.

It's best for the schema originator, Netscape in this case, to
provide the LDAPv3 compliant (RFC 2252) schema definitions. From
server vendors, one should be able to read such from subschema
subentries published by their product (with their schema loaded).
The mapping between LDAPv2 and LDAPv3 schema definitions is not
direct (otherwise we would have provided software to do the mapping).

Out of scope of this ITS (which has been closed). You
have mistakes, you will have questions, please take them
to the software mailing list.

We, of course, welcome such contributions...

We'd welcome this as well.

We ask that documentation be submitted in Simple Document Format.
I guess that this shouldn't be a problem for you.
