Full_Name: Tae Kim Version: 1.2.9 OS: linux URL: ftp://ftp.openldap.org/incoming/ Submission from: (NULL) (63.226.186.150) I have managed to follow the quick simple steps to get openldap running but I'm running into a frustrating problem. I want to be able to find entries in ldap using Microsoft outlook express or other e-mail software. I have managed to connect to my server using outlook express (directory service account) but it can't find any entries despite the fact that I know they're there. Are there any special steps involved with using outlook express to find LDAP entries?

You need to make sure the objectClasses are correct, and proper attributes are used (standard schema, IOW). -- -----------=======-=-======-=========-----------=====------------=-=------ / Ben Collins -- ...on that fantastic voyage... -- Debian GNU/Linux \ ` bcollins@debian.org -- bcollins@openldap.org -- bcollins@linux.com ' `---=========------=======-------------=-=-----=-===-======-------=--=---'
This belongs to openldap-software@openldap.org Last time I checked, outlook (97) and outlook express (4.xx) search for strings beginning by what you enter. Example, if I search for 'timm' the search will look like '(|(cn=timm*)(mail=timm*)(surname=timm*)(givenname=timm*))' and my record will show up. If I enter 'immo', the search will look like '(|(cn=immo*)(mail=immo*)(surname=immo*)(givenname=immo*))' and my record won't show up.
