Full_Name: Ray Version: 1.1 OS: linux (red hat) URL: ftp://ftp.openldap.org/incoming/ Submission from: (NULL) (207.175.48.203) Hi. I'm just getting up and running with openldap 1.1. I was become quite satisfied with its performance after about a day of tinkering (the input functions are painful to use...) but I've run across a problem. I can search via Communicator's ldap client just fine. When I use "Find People" which comes with IE/Outlook, though, slapd dies. I can't find any message logging of any kind, so I have no idea why. Has anyone experienced this?
Please run slapd with '-d 1' to generate a trace. Reply to this message with relevant portions. If and when it crashes, please also provided a complete stack back trace (using your debugger). Thanks, Kurt

Hi. Thanks for responding. I turned on debugging. I run 'slapd -d 1' and I get messages like these when I use the Outlook ldap client: ------ # /usr/local/libexec/slapd -d 1 slapd 1.1-Release (Wed Dec 16 16:04:03 PST 1998) admin@services.sno-isle.org:/home/admin/tmp/ldap/servers/slapd slapd starting do_bind unknown version 3 send_ldap_result 2::version not supported do_bind do_bind: version 2 dn () method 128 send_ldap_result 0:: do_search Segmentation fault ------ and ------ slapd starting unknown version 3 Segmentation fault ------ Netscape's client seems to produce more normal looking messages and doesn't crash the daemon. I have a core file, but am not sure how to produce a stack back trace. Kurt Zeilenga wrote: > > Please run slapd with '-d 1' to generate a trace. Reply to this > message with relevant portions. I suspect the problem may be the same as reported in ITS#12 which was fixed. Can you duplicate the error using ldapsearch? Can you duplicate it using one of the test databases? Also, please see ITS#11, reply #1. Kurt
Please try applying: http://www.OpenLDAP.org/devel/cvsweb.cgi/servers/slapd/back-ldbm/search.c.diff?r1=1.7.2.6&r2=1.7.2.7
