Full_Name: Raphael Ouazana Version: 2.3.4 OS: Linux URL: ftp://ftp.openldap.org/incoming/ Submission from: (NULL) (194.98.7.155) Hi, I didn't found any documentation about database config. I think it should be described at least in slapd.conf(5) or a new slapd-config(5), and maybe in admin guide or faq. Unless it shouldn't be used... Moreother I think slapd.d should be created either at install stage or when specifying database config in slapd.conf or... in documentation. Raphael Ouazana.

http://www.mail-archive.com/openldap-devel@openldap.org/msg00106.html summed up really nicely and succinctly what i've been wondering, myself, for many moons. man page is non-existent (?, at least i don't see it in my zsh completion ;) ), and i think you'll find that rather illuminating. i certainly did. have fun simon -- The only windows I use are in my window manager and my walls.

I've committed a preliminary slapd-config.5 manpage to HEAD. In anticipation of deleting slurpd from RE24, I have commented out all of the slurpd-related keywords. Most of the text is the same as in slapd.conf(5) but I've changed the organization to better reflect the actual implementation. There may be options that I've missed. Please review and send patches / corrections / comments. -- -- Howard Chu Chief Architect, Symas Corp. http://www.symas.com Director, Highland Sun http://highlandsun.com/hyc OpenLDAP Core Team http://www.openldap.org/project/

Even if it is shown in the Examples part, I think the use of slapd.conf and slapd.d at the same time should be explained as it is in slapd(8). Furthermore slapd-config(5) make references to slapd-bdb(5), slapd-ldap(5) and others but these pages use old config style. Maybe you could add in a first time a note to indicate that users should add olc prefix to use these directives in cn=config branch. Of course I hope every pages will be updated one day... Raphael Ouazana. PS: I'm not able to see slapd-config(5) with man.cgi on the website (even if I use OpenLDAP 2.X-Devel). Is it normal ?

It might be nice to set up an automated script to pull the updated manpages from CVS onto the web site. -- -- Howard Chu Chief Architect, Symas Corp. http://www.symas.com Director, Highland Sun http://highlandsun.com/hyc Chief Architect, OpenLDAP http://www.openldap.org/project/

In some respects I like the old pages being on there because their dates establish a ballpark for when a feature first appeared (well, was first documented). But I think we should always have a "Current" selection as well, that always corresponds to the latest general-use release. -- -- Howard Chu Chief Architect, Symas Corp. http://www.symas.com Director, Highland Sun http://highlandsun.com/hyc Chief Architect, OpenLDAP http://www.openldap.org/project/
