Why is the slapd.conf man page so terse, compared to the SLAPD/SLURPD Admin
Guide?
I'm a novice OpenLDAP user and am trying to figure out why slapd doesn't log
anything
in spite of obvious errors.

For instance, the description of loglevel only lists the log levels, does not
give
the default value. But the Admin
Guide also mentions that you must have compiled slapd with some debug flags and
gives
an example of what's meant by "additive" log levels and mentions that the two
stats
levels are always enabled.

Or for schemacheck, the man page just says it turns schema checking on and off.
The
Admin Guide also explains what this means and what other config options must be
set.

Is this because the Admin guide info is not true for OpenLDAP version and no one
had
time to update the man page? I find I must have both the man page for the
latest
info, and the Admin Guide for what it means. I would not mind using only the
Admin guide, but it is almost four years old now.

Thanks,
Carol
