(Answer) (Category) OpenLDAP Faq-O-Matic : (Category) Trash : (Answer) ldap_bind: DSA is unavailable
This message occurs when the LDAP command cannot "bind" to the directory server agent (DSA) (ldapd or slapd). The server is either down or your configuration is not correct.

Things to try:

  • Use the -h host option to specify the correct host. The default is normally "localhost".
  • Try ping host to see if you communicate with the specified host.

You can specify a default host in ldap.conf(5).
