(Answer) (Category) OpenLDAP Faq-O-Matic : (Category) Trash : (Answer) Slurpd taking up lots of CPU?
If you find slurpd taking up 99% of the CPU, then you might have your replog file being put the same place as the 'staging area' for slurpd.

This message helps explain it, but really all you have to do is change your replog line to some other place.
in debian the replog staging area appears to be: /var/lib/slurp/replica
But that may or may not be true in the future.
set your replog file to something like replog /var/log/slurp/slurpd.replog
this fixed the problem for me.
