(Answer) (Category) OpenLDAP Faq-O-Matic : (Category) Trash : (Answer) Can I use the FreeBSD Berkeley DB "port" or "package"?
The current FreeBSD "port" (and "package") of BerkeleyDB (http://www.freebsd.org/ports/databases.html#db-2.7.3) installs Sleepycat BerkeleyDB (http://www.sleepycat.com/) in locations which incompatible with OpenLDAP configure script. The port cannot be used as currently packaged. We recommend you use the obtain BerkeleyDB directly from SleepyCat Software (http://www.sleepycat.com/).
