I have multiple ldap servers using replication: one provider and multiple consumers. In my multiple consumers' slapd.conf, the replication rid is the same: syncrepl rid=123. I wonder if this is a problem. Should the rid for each consumer be unique? why?
RID's only need to be unique inside a given consumer. I.e., if the consumer has MULTIPLE syncrepl statements, then each RID must be unique. Different consumers have no concept of what RIDs other consumers use, so they do not have to be unique across consumers.
