this wouldn't work of the box as only one searchbase may be specified,
but you may establish back-meta or some overlay to provide a
consolidated view.

No, syntax is defined in rfc 4515, something like
filter="(|(ou=111)(ou=222)" may work, depending on your setup and
requirements.
