  I am inspecting the code and I think the point is that the stoptime 
for the search is calculated before the first pass through the overlay, 
thus ignoring later changes in the tlimit. I guess I have to manage with 
the overlay's private info and process the time myself...

  If there is an easy shortcut, just tell!
