^^^ no writes are available with MySQL because of its historically weak
stored procedures support. This is documented in (experimental)
documentation for back-sql, but might be no longer true.

Since support for back-sql is minimal, and we have no resources nor real
push for active support for back-sql, there is little chance anyone
within OpenLDAP will take care of this.

If you believe MySQL can support adequate stored procedures, and you
think you qualify as an expert user of OpenLDAP's back-sql, you can
modify example files in servers/slapd/back-sql/rdbms_depend/mysql/ to
introduce support for write tests, and submit your modifications through
the ITS (http://www.openldap.org/its/).
