I assume you are just trying to solve the "authenticate to laptop when not 
connected" problem.

I usually just use pam_ccreds and nss_updatedb/nss_db for this.

However, have you tried using *both* interval and retry in refreshAndPersist 
mode? I think it should work sufficiently (except for unnecessary network 
connection attempts).
