Thanks for the response.

I tried adding the overlay chain directive to the database section of
slapd.conf without result.
Searching the lists says that the overlay should be global. However I
can find no docs on global
overlays and very little upto date on chain.

In the absence of any information I tried adding the overlay directive
above the database and access sections of slapd.conf both with and
without the word global to no avail.

Any definitive information would be greatly appreciated.
