I think the "cleanup remains" is not a real issue, as in shell scripting
we can tolerate strings with leading or trailing spaces and amenities
like that. The real thing was the error code, which __should__ be
exactly one decimal number, and this seems to be fixed now.
I think the rest could be part of a generic cleanup of back-shell (if
anybody who actually uses back-shell will ever do it), and I suggest
that ITS be closed.
