slapd-perl: Segmentation Fault w/ perl backend

OpenLDAP v2.3.17, configured with just "--enable-perl" on a Solaris 9
system...

When I attempt to launch slapd with -d 255, everything seems to crank along
just fine *until* the slapd.conf directive that specifies my perl module:

line 78 (perlModulePath /pmdf/local/scripts/MSGStore.pm)
./start-slapd: line 1: 6512 Segmentation Fault (core dumped)

Any thoughts on where I should be looking?

$ ls -la MSGStore.pm
-rwxrwxr-x 1 jlw users 2935 Jan 30 14:40 MSGStore.pm

slapd.conf file has:

	...
	include /usr/local/etc/openldap/schema/core.schema
	...
	pidfile /pmdf/tmp/slapd.pid
	argsfile /pmdf/tmp/slapd.args
	...
	database perl
	suffix "dc=psu,dc=edu"
	rootdn "uid=jlw12,dc=psu,dc=edu"
	rootpw *****

	perlModulePath /pmdf/local/scripts/MSGStore.pm
	perlModule MSGStore

And indeed line 78 is the perlModulePath directive.

MSGStore.pm contains stubs for the following at the moment:

bind
modify
add
delete
inint
modrdn
search
compare
new
