ldap_set_option() and ldap_initialize()

Is it planned to document these some time, or are they not intended for 
end use?  I only learned of their existence when looking through the 
source for ldapsearch (I'm writing my own client).

Can I assume that the options that are supported are the same as at 
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/ldap/ldap/session_options.asp ?

It's not often I find a use for Microsoft :-)
