Future of 2.2.x branch

Hi,

With the release of 2.3.4, does this imply that the 2.2.x branch is "out
of service"?  Or are there plans to maintain the 2.2.x branch for a
while longer.  I'm wondering if there is a planned EOL for the 2.2.x
branch (or if it has passed already).

The FAQ gives a good description as to when to expect new releases.
However, I couldn't find anything to describe when old branches of the
tree would be retired.
