There were several fixes to slurpd that I'd consider critical in your
environment made in the OpenLDAP 2.2 line.  So yes, I suggest upgrading.
However, I don't suggest using syncRepl in the OpenLDAP 2.2 line.  I
think you are hitting errors in slurpd that have since been fixed.


Why do you suggest not using SyncRepl in 2.2.x? (we're using 2.2.20)
Are there known bugs that could cause major issues such as data
corruption or is it unreliable etc etc?

If you've watched the OpenLDAP list, the 2.2 syncrepl implementation has been fairly unreliable.
