This is no longer necessary in OpenLDAP 2.3. In 2.3 back-bdb there is a 
scheduled task that runs at the checkpoint interval to perform a 
checkpoint, whenever you have checkpoints configured. Of course, as in 
2.2, checkpoints are not enabled by default - you must still set them 
explicitly.
