slurpd is quite stable these days.  It was very good in the 2.1 branch, and 
has had just a few bug fixes since then.  I've not had any issue with a 
delay in replication time, unless a server it is replicating to is 
extremely busy, and even then, I haven't found it taking longer than 30 
seconds to replicate.
