This question has nothing to do with openldap itself, but your pam_ldap
configuration.

Since you seem to be using Fedora Core 2, please try authconfig
instead,which should get you something that works slightly better than
your current configuration.

In the error output you will notice no error message from pam_ldap, so
it's not really a pam_ldap issue either, but a generic pam configuration
one ...
