Red Hat stock version uses LDBM my custom compile is using BerkeleyDB
(BDB)

Okay, good to know. LDBM is pretty much deprecated these days. What version of BDB are you using? 4.1.x or 4.2.x? Have you configured your BDB parameters sufficiently?
