RE: OpenLDAP fails on reboot

I was definately shutting down slapd before rebooting (and no, I don't
generally plan on rebooting systems much).  Perhaps I'll run db_recover as
an "on boot" script only.

So since that doesn't seem to be a problem, I'm back to trying to figure out
why my response times are so bad on my faster machines. :)

Well, doing it before shutdown won't help any as far as the memory cache

goes.  It is generally recommended to shut down slapd before rebooting,
to 
make sure everything gets written out.

As far as the memory cache goes, you need to do a db_recover when the 
system comes up, but in general you don't want to do one every time you 
start slapd.  Hopefully, of course, you rarely reboot your systems. ;)
