i have installed cyrus sasl and openldap client but the ldapsearch
command still results in

unknown authentication method
no mechanism available: No worthy mechs found

anybody found this problem and solved it? please lemme know. thanks! 

Well, really, there are a lot of pieces here...

OpenSSL
Kerberos
SASL
OpenLDAP

So, do you have all of those things installed on the system you are making the query from? Are they in the same locations as on the other server? Same versions?
