dumb newbie question

I am a total newbie when it comes to ldap and have been trying to follow the 
quickstart pages on the openldap web site.

Problem is that I get this:

# ldapadd -x -D "cn=Manager,dc=<PARADIGM-OMEGA>,dc=<NET>" -W -f 
paradigm-omega.ldif
Enter LDAP Password:
adding new entry "dc=paradigm-omega,dc=net"
ldap_add: No such object

Can someone give me a clue?
