ldapmodify question

Hi Guys,

I installed openldap-2.1.25 on a redhat 9 box and got it up and running. 
However, now I need to add email addresses for all my users but I can't
seem to successfully run the ldapmodify command:

# simran, People, CHAMKILA.ORG
dn: uid=simran,ou=People,dc=CHAMKILA,dc=ORG
uid: simran
cn: Simran Hansrai

objectClass: posixAccount
objectClass: top
objectClass: shadowAccount

bash-2.05b# /usr/local/bin/ldapmodify -r -f simran.ldif -W
Enter LDAP Password:
ldap_bind: Invalid credentials (49)

Is there something that I am missing?
