I have had the same problems with 2.1.19 and Pierangelo Masarati answered

back-meta hares some code with back-ldap, and mapping_cmp
is part of it.  I'm not sure how you can deal with this
problem with modules, though.

It seems that one still can't load back_meta and back_ldap as module.
