I've been hearing plenty of complaints about corruption problems and how
to avoid them using DB_CONFIG with bdb 4.1.x.

Looks like the folks at sleepycat have finally released 4.2, which is
supposed to take care of these problems:

Is anything in OpenLDAP going to *break* when upgrading to 4.2?

I'm testing now... ;)

configure won't find the library, you'll have to hack it. I've filed an ITS on this at the OpenLDAP site.
