Is this the standard way it's done? Anyone with experiences in this
matter ?  Other ways of doing it ?

That's what "break" means... keep going down through the ACL's... We use it extensively at Stanford to make sure that groups other than the one in a particular ACL line with access to an attribute will continue on down to their line.
