No. The Heimdal source has an LDAP backend that allows its KDC to use LDAP
for the Kerberos key store. Contributed by PADL, with one or two tweaks from
me. As far as I recall, the patch to support SASL/EXTERNAL was integrated in
Heimdal 0.5 or 0.6, so you shouldn't need anything else.
