RE: windows version?

It should work with Cygwin, but I don't recall if anyone has tested it
recently. In general I avoid Cygwin because their Posix compatibility DLL
imposes a large performance penalty. At Symas we build the Windows binaries
using MinGW which runs directly on the Win32 API at full speed.
