Root DSE error

Helo everybody. I have an application authenticating users against my 
openLDAP and everytime it performs a search to lookup for any user, 
after retrieving the result I get next log message:

Jul 24 11:42:43 tec50 slapd[27116]: [ID 839439 local4.debug] do_modify: 
root dse!
Jul 24 11:42:43 tec50 slapd[27116]: [ID 217296 local4.debug] conn=4404 
op=2 RESULT tag=103 err=53 text=modify upon the root DSE not supported

What does it exactly mean? What it´s the application doing to get this 
error?
