Migration and hash style

Hello,

I have to migrate from an /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow to an openldap 
directory.
I have read that password is in crypt format in /etc/shadow and i'd like 
to store smd5 hashes in the ldap...
Is there a simple way to change the hash from crypt to smd5 (without 
asking users to re enter their password...)
